I'm Mahat. Born in Somalia, raised in East London by parents who came to the UK as refugees. Ten years into a career as a Salesforce architect, fourteen Salesforce certifications deep — including System Architect and Application Architect — and starting to look hard at what comes next.

The work so far: architecting Salesforce implementations across public sector, health and life sciences, finance, retail and telecoms. A lot of mature orgs, a lot of real users, a lot of opinions about what actually survives contact with production.

Salesforce has been my specialism. It doesn't have to be my ceiling. Two bets I'm making about the next few years:

  • The whole economy is moving to usage-based. Not just software — every business. How you bill, measure value, and architect systems is downstream of that shift, and most enterprises are nowhere near ready. The implications for CRM, finance stacks and commercial models are bigger than most people are pricing in.
  • AI is how software gets built and operated now. I've been coding day-in, day-out with agentic AI tools for over a year — long enough to have strong views on where they're actually useful and where the hype outruns the reality. I'd put myself among the people in this space who've genuinely lived inside the workflow, not just watched from the outside.

Then there's football. The industry I want to spend the next phase of my career in. Elite clubs are businesses with CRM, commercial, data and operational problems that deserve architect-level attention — and nobody at that level has really made it their focus yet. I intend to be that person, working with clubs across the globe.

This blog is where I'll think out loud about the intersection of these things. Some posts technical, some opinion, all grounded in the work.
